70.

On arrival at the place where the second launch had last

been seen a quantity of wreckage was found and it was dis-

covered she had sunk.

I proceeded to Kong Mun with the Hangly.

313

The crew of the "Hangly" stated that they had been boarded at

the place I found them at 1330 the day before by men in uniform

who called themselves aoldiers, in a launch the "Tin Fook"

which was the launch that was sunk.

They were on passage from Sainam to Sekki with a junk. The

junk was towed away by the "Tin Fook" in Kong kau direction.

On Bunday morning the launches attacked the Shekki-Hong Kong

tows but failed to pirate them, also a junk was attacked which

was apparently burnt. One or two of the crew also stated that

the pirates had said that an attack was to be made that night

on the Kong Mun Convoy.

A considerable percentage of the pirates were in uniform and

a flag in the Hangly was inscribed General Ahlum Chinese

Police Kwangtung.

A small field gun was fixed in the bows of the "Hangly" but

infortunately was either thrown overboard or landed.

The carriage wan thrown overboard.

It was noticed that all the men in the post at the entrance

of the creek had disappeared when I returned so I had their

flags seized.

There were two and they were inscribed: -

(1) General Ah Yeung

Wangmun Sallam and Lin Gung District Police. (2) Two names the same

Generals Ah Laung.

No.1 Soldier Wangun District.

No.6 soldier Rice protection Tung Hoi District.

Also, in the junk fleet entrance, I had passed the Hongkong- Shekki tow three quarters of an hour after they had been attack-

ed and they reported nothing to me.

I have the honour to be,

Bir

Your obedient servant,

(sd) L.C.P.Tudway.

Lieut. Commander in Command.
